8th February 1911 F.H.R. (for his return) I am very sorry that you found that the new body on Mr. Northey's car is noisy. The enclosed limousine type has been found to be the best type for sales purposes because one has often able to put the customer on the seat next to the driver, which, from the point of view of comfort, is, of course, the finest position in the chassis, and the driver can explain the car and drive at the same time. However, if you think that the new Kellner body is incurable and should not be used, it would probably form an excellent body for use at Derby for the purposes of testing, since, apparently, it exaggerates noise, and this is what we want for testing purposes. As regards the proposal to adopt at an early date the new four-inch engine, the more I think of this, the more I am confident that we should go cautiously. Apparently very slight modifications in our present engine have brought about considerable trouble; that is to say, I believe there are, at the present time, 80 chassis at the Works waiting to have troubles removed.
