COPY. X5000 By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} E4/MM15.10.31. X5000 J.{Mr Johnson W.M.} 3. CRANKCASE DETAILS. We send you herewith LeC. 2964. shewing some modifications and additions which it has been considered advisable to make. We would draw attention to the ribs added for stiffening the joint under the wet liner flange and the modifications to the water hole connections to the head. The slight changes made to the cored pockets for feeding the side water holes should also be noted. This drawing shews in addition the portways through the transverse webs for longitudinal passage of the cooling water along the block, and a drain boss at the lowest point of the cylinder. This latter is not intended for normal use as we consider the .7" of water not dealt with through the pump is not likely to cause trouble. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
