EAC. 'V' SERIES - TESTS IN FRANCE. Y8940 X1030

Attached herewith is a report on the engine out of 98-NK car which ran 10,000 miles in France.

The worst part on the engine was the condition of the connecting rod bearings. We have an engine on the test bed which has run 1000 hrs. It has run at 2750 and 2500 revs. for considerable periods - the connecting rods on there gave no trouble.

We use an oil cooler on the test bed and run with oil entering the bearings at 60°C to 70°C. It is possible that owing to the heavy oil consumption of the car in France that it was frequently run with a small quantity of oil circulating which would tend to get very hot.
