"Burgos", 361, Walsgrave Road, COVENTRY. July 2nd. 1935. Our Ref. AB/DT. Your Ref. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}4/KW. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Limited, Experimental Department, DERBY. Dear Sirs, FOR THE ATTENTION OF MR. ROBOTHAM. I have to thank you for your letter of the 28th. ult. regarding my silencers. While I can submit immediately a sample of air silencer, I think you will agree it is necessary for me to have particulars of the engine for which it is intended. Perhaps you would be good enough to supply me with the following particulars. 1. Engine capacity. 2. Bore and stroke. 3. Engine speed at maximum low frequency air intake noise, i.e. most violent period of air intake noise. 4. Number of cylinders. The fundamental of air silencer is wave interference without the aid of resonators. You may also be interested in exhausts? If so, I could arrange for my manufacturer to submit suitable for your 50hp. model, a system which is fitted to all the new Royal Cars. Yours faithfully, (A.{Mr Adams} BLUNDELL). | ||
