We have now completed a test in which the dipping mechanism in the headlamp was disconnected, and a variable resistance connected in its place. With the side, tail and dipped head lamp on, and a current in the dipper circuit equal to the estimated initial current in the series winding of the mechanism, as given by the makers, the following observations were made :- TEST 1. ( Current in dipper circuit - 18 amps. ( Volts at battery terminals - 11.8 volts. ( Volts at junction box dipper terminal in lamp - 7.9 volts. TEST 2. ( Current in dipper circuit - 17.8 amps. ( Volts at battery terminals - 11.8 volts. ( Volts at junction box dipper terminal in lamp - 8.0 volts. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/RC.{R. Childs} | ||
