SECRET +327 To. RHG. Copy to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Gry{Shadwell Grylls} E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}2/MN.29.4.35. CHASSIS FRAME RIGIDITY. We are sending you herewith a print of LeC 4478 showing a 1/8th.scale model of two chassis frame crosses. The one is of a cross as used on the SpectreCodename for Phantom III and the other is of a cross of similar dimensions but of the style commonly used by Continental and American Manufacturers, and in particular Hotchkiss. We have made the chassis side members parallel for simplicity of construction. The object of our wishing to have these models is in order to be able to demonstrate the superiority or otherwise of a cross of the SpectreCodename for Phantom III type as compared with a more normal construction, and also to estimate the value of this latter construction in as much as we may be forced to use it on Bentley and Wraith.
