to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} copy to R.{Sir Henry Royce} BJ. EHS. [EHS is crossed out] Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X8830 EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1.23.11.25. PROGRESS OF BODY EXPERIMENTS. NEW PHANTOMCodename for PHANTOM I. BARKER BEATONSON TORPEDO CAB. FOR "R". 7EX.4. SUBFRAME BODY. We hope to take delivery of this car in a completed state during the first week in December. There is nothing for which the coachbuilders are waiting. The dials for the instruments by Messrs Dent & Co. will be ready in about a week. HOOPER ENCLOSED LIMOUSINE. "B" STEERING. SUBFRAME. This car has been treated three times with Pyroxalin Laquer of various sorts without success. It is now decided to accept the car as it is and delay further experiments until the process has been more nearly perfected. We hope to take delivery in about a week on chassis 9.PK. BARKER ENCLOSED CAB. "C" STEERING. SUBFRAME. This body has been standing for some while awaiting a chassis. As a test of the servicability of the subframe we suggest that it might be a useful experiment to completely finish the head of this body before mounting. Ifthis could be done the subframe would have a great advantage over the present system. THE "SPORTS" BODIES. One of these has been on test, see Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}2/LG/17.11.25. The wings and screen are not suitable for the body as they offer too great a resistance. We are asking that we may fit suitable wings and screen as suggested by EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} Will Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} please let us know when we can have the car, also could he make use of a second similar body. We will look into the question of carrying a wheel at the rear. Goshawk BARKER CAB. DE VILLE. RAKED COLUMN. SUBFRAME. This car should be completed in the course of about a fortnight, but we shall not press it until we get 7.EX. out of the way. FRAMED PATCH OF INSTRUMENTS WITH INTERIOR LIGHTING. We shall make a design for this as soon as possible. EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
