My dear Sir:

This is to formally acknowledge receipt of and thank you for your letter of 7th instant addressed personally to Mr A R Smith.

Mr Smith is at present in Paris on business - and I do not expect him back at Dagenham until Thursday morning of this week. Immediately on his return, however, I will see that your letter is brought to his attention.
