Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X4553. To Wcr. from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} re Bensport. Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}13/E7.10.32 Copy to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Referring to Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}1/MA.30.9.32 and our lengthy discussion on the subject yesterday, I was thinking afterwards that, before we act on the decision come to, i.e. to put the J.1 engine out of 19-G-IV into a Bensport chassis, we ought to put a memo. up to R.{Sir Henry Royce} on the subject, and I suggest that Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} should write a memo., utilising the greater part of his memo. quoted above, refer to the fact that it was discussed at a full conference at Derby, etc. etc. and put it up in such a way as not actually to ask for approval but to infer that "silence will give consent".
