Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} 1280 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Ed.{J. L. Edwards}1/GH.19.3.40. re VISIT TO MORRIS RADIATORS. With regard to your Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}7/ML.14.3.40., we agree that any extensive work on other proprietary heaters would probably be a waste of time. The particular heaters, however, in which we were interested at Hallam, Sleigh & Cheston Ltd. incorporated principles similar to our own design, and we feel that we could possibly learn something of interest. The latest heater which we have developed is progressing satisfactorily, and the principal tests we have yet to carry out are as follows:- a.{Mr Adams} Investigation of the possibilities of a fan fabricated in a way suitable for pressing. b. Employment of an increased area of matrix giving greater heat output. c. Development of a flexible control to enable the heat and defroster control to be fitted to the instrument panel. d.{John DeLooze - Company Secretary} Development of a quiet electric motor. e.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} Discussions with John Marstons to turn the final job into a production proposition. With regard to the Morris fin and tube block, as you are aware we have put a block in hand for Bentley V, this car being the most suitable for carrying out comparative tests, and as soon as results are available on this first block matrix we can ask Morris's to produce similar blocks for other cars. Prices will be available for this job before very long, and you will probably be interested to hear that prior to the war Steadman had been in contact with Morris's with a view to buying their film block to sell to us.
