We have found, during our investigations of the rear foot brake groans, that the groans can be definitely cured by a light application of the hand brake at the time the foot brake is being used. This acts as an internal damper and with the area of the shoes being large, only a very light pressure is needed to damp out the period of vibration set up. We suggest that this could be applied by a link connection to the hand brake using a spring to give the required load. This scheme would overcome the troubles complained of on existing cars with very little expense. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} | ||
