[Handwritten] X 8440 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from EFC. c. BY/RD. EFC1/T9.12.25. RE KLAXON WIRES. [Handwritten] [Strikethrough]X8440[/Strikethrough] [Strikethrough]X3590[/Strikethrough] X 5440 On present standard, we think it is the case that whereas on the 20 HP. electrical system we run two wires up the steering column and have an insulated Klaxon switch, in the case of the New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I we run only one wire up the steering column and have an earthed Klaxon switch. (If this is not correct, [handwritten insertion]will RD[/handwritten insertion] please advise me). In the latter case, the Klaxon will, of course, be always alive on one terminal at least, whereas in the former case it will only be alive when the [Strikethrough]switch is[/Strikethrough] used. But it does not appear that the fact of the Klaxon being alive is a serious objection, especially in view of the other advantages given by the possibility of being able to use an earthing switch for operating the Klaxon. It is inconsistent to have the two de different arrangements and it is suggested that the 20 HP. should also consist of a single wire and an earthing switch. As that arrangement would be a change from standard, would you please instruct it up suitably so that we can run a set on one of our 20 HP. experimental cars. EFC. | ||
