81487. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}1/KT. December 28th 1932. The S.U. Carburetter Co, Ltd, East Works, Bordesley Green Road, Adderley Park, B'ham. For the attention of Mr. Skinner. Dear Sir, We hand you the car fitted with your carburetters. One feature you will notice is that the pistons in the carburetters make a distinct click when they reach the bottom of their stroke. We have been investigating the distribution of the pipe fitted to this car, and are not satisfied that it is as good as it can be by any means. We are, however, letting you have the car as it is to do some work on it, and during the next few days will replace the manifold with a cast one. We will then work on the built up pipe and try and perfect the distribution. At present the main fault of the system is that the low speed mixture range is far too rich, continually sooting up the plugs, and spoiling the low speed performance, whilst the low speed running is quite hopeless. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. | ||
