Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} c. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} 1263 BY.2/G.14.6.37. Conference PHANTOM III - PETROL PUMPS. -------------------------- In view of the fact that the Experimental Department have instructed(as the result of a Conference) the Order Office to order 200 of the new petrol pumps to D.75658, which means the pump in the frame as against on the dash, and furthermore as a change in this direction is evidently intended as quickly as possible, we wish to confirm that we have had no instructions which would justify adding the 3rd pump on the dash to all the cars in customers' hands. A large percentage of our troubles are undoubtedly due to over-heating of the petrol. This will not be assisted by the addition of a 3rd pump on the dash. It is met by fitting a pump into the cool position in the frame. Whether under these circumstances a 3rd pump will still be demanded by the Administration is an open question at the moment, neither the Experimental Department nor E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} believe that a 3rd pump is required, when the pump is fitted in the frame. Under these circumstances, therefore, we can only agree to adding a 3rd pump on the dash as a kind of further safeguard when a customer has had trouble. By BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} | ||
