| [Handwritten] HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} x7961 [Typed] To Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to E.Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} C.Pn.{Mr Northey}Gx. re Bentley. I sent our friend, Mr. Minchin, a copy of the Press opinions and I thought you would be interested to see the attached extract from a letter received from him. Of course we know that there is a good deal of criticism about the smallness of the body and, whilst I believe that we can sell all that we can make this year, I rather share his view that we shall be forced to give another 4" or so of room in the back, which will not of course mean carrying any more people. I am hopeful that we shall not be forced to do anything of this sort until further modifications, which I know are in the offing, can be introduced so as to give greater HP and, therefore, we should not lose anything on performance. In sending you this I am not wishing to suggest that there is any urgency but, like, Mr. Minchin, I thought that you would like to know what people outside are saying. Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Enc. Extract from letter from Mr. Minchin dated 22.1.34. | ||
