(5) Whilst still warm from above test, an alternating voltage of 200 shall be applied, through a lamp, between the windings including the non-inductive resistance coil, and the switch arm; and also between the main switch contact pillar and the switch arm; for one minute without breakdown.

III. AUXILIARY SWITCH.

(1) As in the case of the main switch, confirm the various gaps to be in accordance with the table given. The gaps given on the auxiliary switch table are made up on the assumption that the following gaps are first fixed :-

(e) Mutual arm gap, i.e. gap between main switch lever side arm and bakelite packing piece:- .044"

(f) Air gap at core centre switch lever right down. .010-.2

(g) Lower contact gap (switch in off position). .017"

(2) The coil shall be connected to the terminals of a six-volt battery and the current taken at 6 volts at atmospheric temperature shall lie between 2.5 and 3.3 amperes.

(3) It shall be verified that with the switch arm in the 'off' position, the combined rating and set of the main spring is such that with the switch unit standing flat on its base a gradually increased current through the coil lying between the limits 1.00 ampere and 1.75 amperes satisfactorily operates the switch, by which we mean - is
