BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} FROM DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X7310 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M14.2.31. C. to SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} C. to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} HY.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} SIDE LEVERS - EPICYCLIC 3rd. SPEED GEARBOX. We send herewith N. schemes 3220/1., shewing the side lever mechanism for use with the epicyclic 3rd. speed gearbox for P. 2. The levers and all the parts are as far as possible P. 2. pieces. We have shewn a reverse stop using the existing gear lever but we realise such a stop may be found unnecessary, in which case the gear lever can be a plain lever. A scheme for excluding the hot and cold air is illustrated and we would be glad if Derby would illustrate this scheme on the present P. 2. subframe print for use on present cars, as Sales are demanding this. The rubber and its pot should be supplied by RR. On N. scn. 3220. we shew the present seating positions with the exception of the revised 'U' type, and the lever positions. It will be seen that there are only two angular settings and two lever lengths. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
