SECRET. S/W To Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} from Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Copy to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}Hsv re Petrol Pumps. Confirming conversation on Monday, it is understood that you will take immediate action to get a mechanical petrol pump on the engine for Wraith in addition to the electric petrol pumps and that immediate tests will be made to find out what is the best arrangement and whether the electric pumps would be harmed by the mechanical pump working at the same time. The introduction of this feature on Wraith must automatically also mean on Bentley III. It was also agreed that you would immediately add this item to the modifications to be introduced on Series 2, P.III. The whole point is that our reputation is being definitely damaged by the non-reliability of electric petrol pumps and I want to have a mechanical pump as well as a sort of insurance policy and a 'get-you-home' device.
