The Bleriot Compensated Cut-out (continued). " constant, irrespective as to whether the air gap is a maximum or minimum. Apart from the compensation thus obtained it will be clear that the heat developed in the cut-out shunt circuit is reduced. Practically no reverse current is necessary to break the circuit, owing, of course, to the compensating action of the resistance. The main contacts are of silver and are protected from the effect of any slight sparking which may take place, by separate carbon contacts which "make" before and "break" after the silver contacts. The main contacts are therefore kept permanently in good condition and require no attention whatever. | ||
