S/W. 1379 Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} Secret. Bentley Publicity. Cx{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager}3/KW4.11.40. Your Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}18/ML28.10.40, addressed to C. has been passed to me to take the necessary action, and now you have agreed that there is no reason why "The Autocar" should not have more detailed information of a technical nature concerning the B.V. chassis, I am arranging for their artist to make his own sketches from chassis available at Hythe Road. When talking to Geoffrey Smith this morning, he said that he would like, in addition to having an illustrated article in "The Autocar" ( no doubt you have seen the article in the current issue of the run made by their road Tester) to also have one in the "Automobile Engineer", which are always of a more technical nature and would require, where possible, sectional drawings. He asks, therefore, whether he might be favoured, for both "The Autocar", and the "Automobile Engineer", with the following additional data, which he will not be able to get by means of the sketches :- General Arrangement drawing, Lubrication diagram, Gearbox sectioned drawing, and anything else technical that you do not mind issuing. I told him I would ask you to supply what you could, although I could not be sure of receiving all that he asks for. Will you please let me have what you can of this nature to make his articles as complete as possible. The sketches to which you refer in the first paragraph of your memo are no doubt the ones made for the Bentley catalogue which was in course of production. I have these by me, and am showing them to Geoffrey Smith, because if they are what they want they can use these as well. Cx.{Major Len W. Cox - Advertising Manager} [Handwritten signature] | ||
