87941. To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} Hotel de France. Chateauroux, France. 1.7.31. 25-EX. We have received your letter of 29.6.31. You will have received our temperature tests we have carried out before receiving this report. The top water temperature we stated at 90°C was correct, but as we had no thermometer for registering the air temperature, my estimate of this temperature must have been entirely wrong having just left England where air temperatures had been low. The large tube radiator that we are now running with will be about equal to the standard radiator with dents. We are definitely still in trouble if bonnet shutters are not used as you will have seen by the reports. With regard to the shock dampers; I will endeavour to get the information you require as soon as possible. we have so far been concentrating on bonnet knocks along with air temperatures, and other features have had to go. We will try and let you have the information before the week-end. We note your remarks re. petrol and will endeavour to obtain the commodity which gives the least detonations. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} G.W.Hancock. | ||
