COPY. Spare C.Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} The Lee Plaza, DETROIT. 27.11.30. 25 EX. I have received your wire suggesting I keep off any controversy on costs. The question arose out of the cable for them to make their own springs. I came part of the way here on 25 EX. We then sent it back and came on by rail. They are going to do one or two adjust-ments and meet us with it on our return journey. Burton is with me. We met 'Oy' yesterday and went to the General Motors proving ground with him. He appears to have got quite a good job and if he produces, results will be well set. We went out with him on a 12 cylinder 'Cadillac' experimental car which he had been working on the springing and it was very good, in fact, too good for us. The principle they work on appears to be they listen to a man's ideas and if they are reasonable they provide every facility for carrying them to a conclusion, money is not spared. They have every possible facility and all kinds of experts which can be called upon. I think 'Oy' is a very valuable find for them. Springing was the outstanding weakness of the U.S.A. cars and if they progress on that, they will be closer Contd. | ||
