Shotton,
CHESTER.

Dear Sir,

Re Chassis No. 117-MC.

We are in receipt of your favour of the 26th. inst., and we can assure you that the points raised in your previous letter have been receiving a great deal of attention.

With regard to the springing, we quite agree that lighter springs can be fitted, as the body appears to be rather more than 2 cwt. less than the 8 cwts for which the chassis was ordered, and in addition to this the order stated a load of 4 passengers and 2 cwt. of luggage.

We are sure you will appreciate that with such an exceptionally light body, the addition of 2 passengers and 2 cwt. of luggage all on the rear springs, would constitute a quite appreciable percentage of the total load, consequently, springs which would be very suitable for Continental Touring with passengers and luggage are naturally rather on the stiff side for average English conditions with a considerably reduced load.

Will you therefore kindly advise us whether you would like to have the car sprung for an average of 2 passengers and say, 1 cwt. of luggage, or 4 passengers and 1 to 2 cwt. of luggage.

In either case, we could supply springs lighter than those at present fitted on account of the body being under the estimated weight.

On receipt of your reply we would be able to decide upon the most suitable poundage, and these springs could be fitted when you send your car to the Works after Xmas, or should you prefer, we could send the springs to

contd.
