205 To HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Std.4/AP.2.4.37. WIDNEY BONNET HINGE FOR BENTLEY In order to avoid unnecessary work and expense, we should like Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} to see the appearance of the above bonnet hinge on a car as soon as possible. At the moment the two bonnets instructed with this hinge cannot be completed owing to lack of material, but a pair of top plates in .048" aluminium have been fitted up with the hinge for examination. We want you to fit these top plates with standard side plates and fit the bonnet so constructed to B.56.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} car which we are putting in the shop. This bonnet need have no fasteners and is only in the nature of a mock-up for Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}'s examination - it can rest on the radiator and dash and can have a dummy bonnet eye at the dash end. We should like you to fit this up so that Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} can examine same on Monday or Tuesday. The bonnet should be painted to match the body-work of B.56.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} car.
