DERBY.
Dear Sirs,
We thank you for your letter of the 27th instant.
We regret we find your question of maximum angle with varying torques too difficult to answer. If we observed the efficiency curves we would conclude the angles make very little difference, but actually couples are set up and vibrations, which cause damage to the bearing parts.
Regarding print RG{Mr Rowledge}2729, this is quite in order except we should prefer to use a 2" x .064" tube which is one of our standards, and will satisfy your speed of 5,000 r.p.m. We can supply such shafts.
Yours faithfully,
p.p. Hardy Spicer & Co. Limited.
J.A.Daniell.
Director.
