COPY. Our ref. HEP/LW.247. Dunlop Rubber Co.Ltd. Fort Dunlop, Erdington, Birmingham. Major L.W.Cox, Messrs Rolls-Royce Limited, 14-15,Conduit Street, London, W.1. Dear Major Cox, Tyres for 20/25 h.p.Chassis. I am glad to confirm that five 6.00-19 tyres in similar pattern to the special tyres agreed for production on the Phantom III, are being despatched to you in London today by test car, and we hope they will be in your possession by 5 o'clock. As it was impossible to produce these from moulds, they have been hand made and although we consider four of them representative of further mould production except for surface blemishes, the dimensions of the tie bars on the fifth tyre are not quite in accordance with our original intentions. We have labelled this tyre and would suggest that it be carried as spare. The mould for these tyres is proceeding apace and should be ready for production by the 23rd inst. The full capacity from this one mould will equal 25/28 tyres per week, and in order to be in a position to meet your full production requirements, we are arranging for a further two moulds which will not be available in under four weeks. We should, therefore, be in a position to change over on your 20/25 h.p. and 25/30 h.p.chassis to the new tyre in five weeks time, and we have written to Derby asking for instructions for the supply of these tyres against their orders at that date. I hope that the steps we are taking have your agreement. Yours very truly, (Sgd) H.E.Price | ||
