The position really is that, without any pressing from me, RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} promised the complete car by the 22nd and, when I asked him for a date, I said that it was because I had certain plans in mind.

I allowed an extra week in case the car was late but I shall be very disappointed if I am not able to have it in good time for use the week ending Saturday the 5th.

With the knowledge that one of the chief modifications to the engine was an alteration to the gears to overcome our difficulties with noisy gears, I am especially sorry to hear that this first production car suffers from this trouble.
