SpectreCodename for Phantom III Cylinder Liners.
-----------------------

Will you kindly note that the cylinder liners for the above engine have been ordered from the Sheepbridge Stokes Centrifugal Castings Co, and will be supplied in their "Centricast" Mark II material which requires to be hardened and tempered.

Will you kindly note that the correct heat treat-ment for this material is as follows:-

(1) Heat to 850ºC. and quench in oil.

(2) Temper at 450 to 500ºC.

After this treatment, the brinell hardness of the liners should be between 400 and 450.

It will of course not be possible to machine liners after this treatment and therefore grinding allowances only should be left for removal after treatment.
