COPY OF LETTER RECEIVED FROM: THE ZENITH CARBURETTER CO.LTD. HONEYPOT LANE, STANMORE, MIDDLESEX. 20th. April. Messrs. Rolls-Royce Ltd., The Hyde, Hendon, N.W.9. Attention: Mr.Hancock, Service Investigation. Dear Sirs, "Wraith" and "Phantom III" Carburetters. -------------------------------------- Mr.Fisher has reported a number of points to us and has asked us to reply to you direct. 1. The first complaint relates to the idle mixture screw failing to screw in far enough. We understand you have suggested that we cut off the first three threads of the screw. As regards this matter, the screw to which you are referring has not been fitted to the carburetters since 26.5.38 as now the carburetter has volume control of slow running. We think this week we have handled a sample of what you complain, and we found when the carburetter was returned to us that the control screw was only screwed in about three turns and had been locked up very hard by means of the locknut. The result of this was to stretch the first two or three threads. We can assure you that before leaving these Works the idle control is tested, and we make definitely sure that the control screw will go right down on to its seat. Cont'd...... | ||
