Springing. Memo from Paris. X.7410. X.5410. We attach hereto for your information copy of memorandum which we have received from Paris Depot. with This matter was discussed at a recent meeting we had ~~to~~ PN.{Mr Northey} We understand that the whole question of springing, especially on the Phantom ll. is having consideration, and we shall be glad to hear what is the present position. The springing specification has not been altered and we are still despatching chassis from the works and complete cars so long as they come within the limits specified, even though there is an occasional bump on the buffers at high speeds over rough roads with normal load. Our experience is that where cars are too lightly sprung it is because the specification of body weight and passenger load has been incorrectly given, or wrong distribution of load, and that we should insist upon a more nearly accurate specification and more definite information as to the conditions under which the car is going to be used, being supplied. We understand you have agreed to slightly increased strength of springs for Continental cars. EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}/Thn. | ||
