NEWCASTLE-ON-TYNE 24, ELDON PLACE, BARRAS BRIDGE. 28th March, 1939 YOUR REF. OUR REF. JNL/KM Messrs. Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby. Dear Sirs, For the attention of Mr. Hardy. We have taken advantage of Mr. Dixon's visit here today to return to you by him, two fans:- a) Short bladed Duralumin fan which has had 30 hours endurance test as requested by Mr. Steadman. b) 20" fan (black) received from you on the 20th inst. This latter has run only 10 hours 8 mins. before fracture of the blade occurred and it is interesting to note that the horse-power required to drive it at 4,300 to 4,500 R.P.M. was less than previous fans of similar dimension, namely, only slightly over 20 H.P. As mentioned to you over the telephone, we shall be glad to receive another fan if you will be so good as to let us have one, as we are finding this a very useful and enlightening method of test for our belts. During our conversation over the telephone yesterday you mentioned that you would like an opportunity of discussing with us the behaviour of our belt No. V.100 on a water pump and dynamometer drive, and we shall be glad to see you here at any time between now and Easter for this purpose. Yours faithfully, FERODO LIMITED, M Ongley. Director. | ||
