GEORGES A.{Mr Adams} RUBISSOW 74 Bld Exelmans Paris - 16e December 22nd, 1937. Rolls-Royce, Ltd., Derby Angleterre. ✓ Attention Mr. W.A.Robotham, C.C. Mr.A.G.Elliott, Chief Engineer; (Aero Division)- Mr.A.F.Sidgreaves, Managing Director. Mr. Pierson. Dear Sirs,- re: Salomon dynamic damper - Referring to your letters of the 16th November (reference Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}25/R.{Sir Henry Royce}) and 17th November (References E/Lid.{A. J. Lidsey}5/HP and Sg{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD}10/E17.11.37), I beg to send you herewith a comparative note regarding the Sarazin patents which, in addition to the material already submitted, will prove to you that should your Company enter into an agreement with Sarazin, you will be exposed to the danger of such patents being annulled. Mr. Salomon told me that he is going to ask for annulment of the Sarazin patents in several countries. As regards the tests which you have made as per your letter of the 16th November, I discussed this point with Mr. Salomon, and there is no doubt that your department, when calculating the masses, the radius of rotation of such masses and the excentric cut-outs for such masses, did not refer to the Salomon patents. When the calculations are made in accordance with the Salomon patents, the most perfect results are obtained. Several tests have been made in France with masses in the fly-wheels and with masses in the crankshaft. I should be glad to give you every assistance to make a test with the Salomon device at your laboratories. For this purpose, we would need full data of the engine to be used. The tests would show you practically the superiority of the Salomon device as compared to others. At the same time, I have pleasure in informing you that a new Salomon patent will issue in the United States on 28th December, 1937, under No. 2,103,643, with 22 claims, which will confirm to you the validity of the Salomon patents. ./. | ||
