To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} ROYCE INDICATOR APPARATUS. This appears to be almost complete with the exception of a few minor details such as - ball valves and union for sparking plugs. There is, however, no copper piping and no frame-work. We suggest that the original frame work designed by E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} be completed and copper piping made to suit, also the oil tank and supports. The plate carrying the epicyclic gear and rotary valve will be kept quite separate from the remainder of the frame work which will then be able to be removed and attached to the engine upon which it is to be used, with considerable facility. It does not seem feasible to design a lighter or less bulky frame to carry the apparatus as there is such a quantity of it. The drawings available only shew a limited number of details but are sufficient for erecting purposes. To enable the apparatus to fit any engine on any bed, both the frame and the supporting plate would have to be made adjustable also possibly the drive. I think it would be best to fix it up as well as we can on one engine and see if we get any results before attempting any further elaboration. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} | ||
