Your H1/IN/17.12.24. As this is a case chiefly for the design and Experimental Dept., BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} will no doubt wish to deal with the case. Our opinion is that there has not been an increase of trouble since the filters at the filling point were discontinued. At the same time we might usefully enlarge on our instructions as to the care of the petrol system in our Instruction Book. We are recommending owners and chauffeurs to occasionally drain off a little of the petrol from their tanks by removing the bottom plug. The carburetter filter should be removed at least every 1,000 miles and cleaned with a brush. A filter with a drain for catching foreign material as we used in the early days might add to the trustworthiness of the system, providing the drain is opened periodically. H Hm.{Capt. W.
