( 10 ) FRAME & FITTINGS. LOP FB.1505. Complete to above LOP incorporating:- N.S.4167 Flexible Front Suspension. N.S.4805 Modification to Headlamp Crossmember. The flexible engine mounting has been satisfactory and shown no weaknesses. The headlamp crossmember has given no trouble and remained free from cracks. There is a general impression of flexibility at the front end of the frame but it has no advers effect on road-holding. The frame twists at the point of attachment of the front wing stays and allows the wings to move a lot on bad roads. This is very unsightly from the front seats, and will probably be objected to. FRONT BUMPERS. LOP FB.2339 LeC.5016. New, complete to above LOP & Scheme. New type Studs & Lead-antimony weights fitted at 10786 miles. The original lead weights worked loose on the bolts. The new alloy weights remained tight on the new studs during the last 6.134 miles running. WING STAYS. LOP FB.1533. New, complete to above LOP - Standard Production. The N.S.F. wing stay broke right through just above the point of attachment to the frame at 9,280 miles and was repaired by welding. It cracked again in the same place. The flanges of both N.S. and O.S. stays cracked away in the corners alongside the fixing bolts. The support of the wing is concentrated over too small an area, and with the new engine mounting, the flexing of the frame has increased. FRONT ROAD SPRINGS. LOP FB.992. New, complete to above LOP - Firths. Type 700 lbs. with Four Thick Leaves. REAR ROAD SPRINGS. LOP FB.994. New, complete to above LOP. Type 900 lbs. with Four Thick Leaves. SHOCK DAMPERS. FRONT LOP FB.1340 REAR LOP FB.1339. Existing, complete to above LOPS. FRONT ROLL-ROD. Arrgt. Ex.22110. New, complete to above Scheme, incorporating:- Ex.22111/2/4 Brackets. Ex.22113 Levers. Ex.22115 Torsion Rod. E.2113 E.2088 Silent Block Bushes. When taking over, the springing was poor. The front suspension was very harsh and there was too much float Handwritten text: Grott Stardardisation Sheet | ||
