The Bentley returned at noon to-day with a knock in the Engine. The Car had not been driven fast, and although as found out, N° 3 Connecting rod Bearing had broken up, the oil pressure had been maintained.

The failure is not a seizure but the metal breaking up. N° 1, 2, & 4, also show cracks in the metal on the top half, N° 2 - bottom half. N° 5 & 6 are still in good condition.

We have not taken oil temperatures as no pipe was fitted for a thermometer, and the one I asked for upon arriving here would not take the thermometer unit.

We are sending the N° 3 top half bearing to you by post. It shows having rubbed on the crankshaft pin but there is no damage done to the pin.
