x766a HOTEL DE FRANCE. CHATEAUROUX. Indre. France. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}/3/JAB. 6th November 1935. To. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} From. G.W.H. B. 56. BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - BENTLEY. The Bentley returned at noon to-day with a knock in the Engine. The Car had not been driven fast, and although as found out, N° 3 Connecting rod Bearing had broken up, the oil pressure had been maintained. The failure is not a seizure but the metal breaking up. N° 1, 2, & 4, also show cracks in the metal on the top half, N° 2 - bottom half. N° 5 & 6 are still in good condition. We have not taken oil temperatures as no pipe was fitted for a thermometer, and the one I asked for upon arriving here would not take the thermometer unit. We are sending the N° 3 top half bearing to you by post. It shows having rubbed on the crankshaft pin but there is no damage done to the pin. ------------- G.W.Hancock. G.W.H. | ||
