Failure occurred on 24.5.39 after 46 hours 35 mins, of which 15 hours were full throttle. This Rocker was produced in S/ZN to specification No.2072, fracture occurred in the bend of the Push Rod arm as shewn on the attached photograph. H1/GLT. suggests failure may be due to the stretching operation following forging without any intermediate anneal. This is given in the Laboratory report ref: H1/EJW.1/JM.{Mr Morley}12.6.39.
