W/P - GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} K1113 Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.11.7.36. We should like to know when you are proposing to come back to England. We have now got 32-EX back and the parts will be stripped down by the end of next week. 6-B-IV will also be completed by Thursday of next week, and E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is taking it over on his holidays. You might usefully try the car before it leaves Derby, so that you will have a basis of comparison for when the car gets to France. We should like to talk to you about Bentley clutches and 20/25 oil consumption before the holidays, to see whether there is anything we ought to do immediately to help out Depots. I shall be away from July 18th to the 27th. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} We are so concerned about the Bentley clutch that we are proposing to run a test in London traffic on 1-B-IV, having a centre plate lined with Hycoe material. A similar centre plate has satisfactorily completed 3,500 miles on B-23-AE here, and it is infinitely better for take-up than the standard material. We shall want to utilise any of your testers who are available for this test. In view of this fact we have to-day wired you as follows :- "Please leave 22-G-V in Paris proposing to start endurance run in London on modified Bentley clutch next week in view of complaints stop latest service information required." With regard to 22-G-V, we have asked you to leave this car in Paris because RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} is coming over on his holiday and may possibly like to use it for a short time. | ||
