Hardy - Please follow up +350 To BT.{Capt. J. S. Burt - Engineer} from Da.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c.c. Er. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Hdy.{William Hardy} HHG. SECRET Marles - SpectreCodename for Phantom III Steering in 20/25 Chassis. Herewith is N. Sch.4446 showing the Marles type steering from the SpectreCodename for Phantom III mounted in the 20/25 chassis. The distance from the dashboard to the Pendulum Lever centre is reduced as compared with standard, but in fitting it to an existing car, two of the existing holes for bolting the steering box to the frame are used, two fresh ones being drilled to the rear. The effect is to give clearance with the carburetter, and also to bring the line of the steering column almost exactly as now, so that the same brackets to the dash can be used. The engine controls require modification to suit, but do not seem to present any difficulty. If any further information is needed as to the side steering tube, it will be sent immediately.
