828/ 1114 BRY To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} November 13th. 1936. Chassis No. B.16.HK.{Col. T. Harker - Sales} Complaint of oil leak from gear box. We have had a Bentley in with a gear box leaking oil. This box is practically new having run only 1197 miles. Upon dismantling, the end cover inside the clutch housing of the first motion shaft was found loose and had come adrift 1/32". No nuts holding the cover had been tightened up, some were half off. While the gear box was being dismantled, the inspection making a general examination noticed that the housing of the rear axle pinion had blued up. This was taken out, the achme thread was found chewed up and the housing of same torn and discolored. It is obvious that the pinion drive has either been too large in dia. or not true. Kingsbury are returning the complete axle to the Works for rectification. These two faults should not have arisen. G.W.Hancock. GWH{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux} When do we standardise GB IV axle. | ||
