-2- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}6/KW.20.6.36. (1) That all friction discs supplied to us in the future should be held to a thickness variation of not more than .0025"; i.e., that the two faces of the material should be parallel to within this amount. (2) That when adjusted with a ground plate the maximum variation of finger setting should be .005". (3) That with a view to enabling us to return clutches which we consider to be unsatisfactory, you should supply 25 Bentley clutches per week for the next fortnight, which would enable us to keep 30 Bentley clutches in hand as a reserve. We understand that you will treat this alteration in the standard of Bentley clutches as a matter of the gravest urgency, as the existing situation is damaging to the reputation of all concerned. Yours faithfully, FOR ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED. We should like the reserve of clutches to apply to the 20/25 as well as the Bentley. | ||
