REAR STABILISER - WRAITH III. [Handwritten: 1073]

Referring to By/NS.{Norman Scott}1/G.23.2.38., it has
finally been decided that the squared location for levers
on the above shaft to FCD.260 offers a more practicable
assembly for production purposes than the splines attachment
to LeC.5501.

The principal reasons for this decision
are :- (1) difficulty of hobbing the splines accurately
to size on a production basis and (2) excessive cost of
spline cutting fixture which we understand may be used
for only 100 chassis, due to probable changes in design.
(3) Assembly troubles due to pressing on levers with .005
diametral interference.

The quantities produced at R.R. are
insufficient to permit selective assembly for ensuring
a definite interference, this being only possible with
a large output.

We, therefore, consider that the roll
rod with the squared location to FCD.260 should be instructed
for the first 100 chassis, and have confirmed that we are
not committed to any material for the splined type roll
rod.
