| COPY. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} x736 E.8/HP.26.9.33. c. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} By.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} re Gudgeon Pin Fit. It is very urgent to make experiments, with a view to getting away from the interference fit of the gudgeon pin in the piston. We should like to see a 20/25 engine rigged up with push fit pins for this purpose. It might be necessary to assume that selective assembly would be required to keep the clearance between the pin and the piston at a minimum, but this is a matter for the Shops to investigate.
