RADIATORS.

The Experimental Department have tried out the modified radiator tubesgiving increased water spaces, and they are satisfied that the alteration to cooling is negligible. It would therefore appear that we are in a position to release more than the 50 radiators at present permitted with this design of tube.

In discussing the matter with Ms. I find that we have approximately one million tubes drawn to the original dimension, but which have not had the ends expanded. Personally I feel very sure that if we expanded the ends of these tubes 1/2 m/m larger than the original standard which would maintain the water space between/the tubes we should have practically the same conditions as those which obtain when the modified tube made 5 1/2 m/m on the small diameter instead of 6 is used.

I therefore propose to have a certain number of tubes produced with the larger expanded ends, and handed to the Experimental Department to be tried out, as if the proposal is successful it will mean a saving of roughly £1,000.
