X.2907L - FLOW OF LIQUIDS THROUGH NOZZLES

We have carried out some experiments on the flow of liquids through cylindrically shaped nozzles of various bores, lengths and bore-length ratios, with a view to determining how the discharge under a given head varies with variation of these quantities.

The nozzles experimented upon were according to the following table in which the unit for bore and length is 1/64 th.inch:-

Nozzle Bore Length Length:bore ratio Average coeff: of discharge Observed.
A1 3 32 10.7 .82
A2 3 48 16.0 .78
A3 3 80 26.7 .72
A4 3 128 42.7 .64

B1 6 48 8.0 .825
B2 6 80 13.3 .80
B3 6 128 21.3 .755
B4 6 176 29.3 .71
