ROLLS-ROYCE OF AMERICA, INC. SPRINGFIELD, MASS. Handwritten: Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} OY5.R.12.19.27 Do you feel interested please? X44944 X92200 Hy.{Tom Haldenby - Plant Engineer} Jany. 28 Stamped: RECEIVED JAN 2 1928 Typed: December 19th, 1927. Mr. Thomas Nadin, Rolls Royce Ltd., Derby, England. Dear Mr. Nadin: RE CLUTCH - SECTION 6000 A man called Victor Arkin of Chicago, Illinois, submits a description of a hydraulic clutch consisting virtually of a gear oil pump rotating in the flywheel working on an enclosed system of oil contained in the flywheel. The obvious objection is the same as the objection to hydraulic transmissions, namely, over heating of the oil; however, he says that he can demonstrate the device and that he has proved it of value. Would you care to mention this to Hives and see whether he would like to have further particulars? Yours very truly, Maurice Olley Stamped: RECEIVED | ||
