To Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} c. W.R. 8777- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}2/AD2.10.30. 25-EX L.H. CAR FOR U.S.A. We took this car to West WitteringHenry Royce's home town but it was not in a state to show as a satisfactory car, we could only show how bad it was. In the general discussion R.{Sir Henry Royce} agreed the car was very noisy, and he was of the opinion we ought to have a campaign to reduce the amount of fuss and noise from both cars. He held the view that it was not sufficient to give a good performance unless it could be obtained with silence and comfort. I propose taking 25-EX to W.W. again next week after we have had another go at it. This means the car will not leave on the 11th but we are trying for the 13th. R.{Sir Henry Royce} examined the front shield which was fitted to this car (W.W. design) and agreed it should be adopted as soon as possible. He would not listen to cost, he held the view the customer pays £3000 and as we think the tray is necessary we must fit the best we know. The radiator with the anti-spilling device was examined and slight modifications were suggested which will be carried out before the car goes down again. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} | ||
