X. 8000 BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} E1/M/9.10.27. c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} SPORTS PHANTOM CRANKCHAMBER. Referring to the modification to the existing crankchamber to enable the first of the sports chassis to be built up with the existing engine dimensions, we send herewith LeC.2477 shewing what modifications should be made. The object of the scheme has been to maintain the continuity of the crankcase section in the centre of the engine, and so as to reduce the window for the oil pump driven gear to the smallest dimensions, we have cut off the overhanging portion of the top bush carrying the driven shaft. The shaft itself has also been reduced in dia., and the bushes reduced in thickness so as to form a smaller stiffer tube enclosing the shaft. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
