SECRET. 642. E/Ev.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1/MN.12.4.37. To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Copy to Dm.{D. Munro} Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} HPS.{Horace Percy Smith - Experimental Factory Mgr} RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Les.{Ivan A. Leslie} Wraith III Rear Shock Absorber and Roll Rod Connecting Link. Owing to the failure up-to-date of the Monroe type rubber ended connecting link, it is necessary for us to supply you with a scheme for a lubricated ball jointed connecting link for the Wraith III shock absorber and roll rod. We have adopted the latest type of connecting link ball joint used on Phantom III and this is shown on Lec. 5607 herewith. We have used the Phantom III ball and joint entirely. It is impossible to use the extractor shown on N.Sch.4875 on the lower joint but this could be applied to the upper joint if it is desired by the Works. The top lever forging could be made by modifying the dies of the existing forging but the/lower lever is an entirely new forging. One forging may be used for both left and right hand for this lower lever but the machining is handed. The method of bringing the lubrication to this connecting link will be shown on the revised pipes and wiring schemes, but on this drawing we show the lubrication of the link itself.
