Experimental Dept. D E R B Y. Dear Sirs, We thank you for your letter of the 14th inst, and would state that Mr. Kent is up at the Motor Show until the end of this week. Immediately he returns he will deal with the first part of your letter. We are very sorry to hear of the case reported to you in which two additional delivery valves were found on the delivery side of a pump, and for the moment the writer is unable to offer any suggestion as to how these were introduced. The matter of fitting a condenser in parallel with the pump in order to eliminate interference with wireless reception is one which we have not ourselves investigated. We know however, that it has frequently been done and we believe quite successfully. The induced voltage is considerably low. We have not available any figures relating to this, but the writer's impression is that it is not in excess of four times the normal applied voltage, as if the terminal is touched while the pump is in action with one hand and the other applied to earth, a shock is only felt if the hands are wet, and we think therefore that it would be a pretty poor condenser that would break down under these conditions.
